Globalization and Malaria-Related Primary Health Care Delivery & Access in Remote Communities

A Study of the Niger Delta Region in Nigeria: This study focused on the examination of the impact of globalization and the association Structural Adjustment Programme in Nigeria on malaria related primary health care in selected communities in Bayelsa State, Delta State and Rivers State. The project surveys the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population in the selected communities in relation to communicable diseases and how these have changed as a result of globalization in the recent years. The project was financed by World Health Organization (WHO). Participatory approach entailing key informant interviews and focus group discussions was used in the study. The project has been concluded and the report submitted to WHO in Geneva.

Non-formal education systems and their impact on youth employment in Niger Delta, Nigeria

The study focused on the analysis of the role of non-formal education systems on the employment of youths in Niger Delta with specific reference to Bayelsa State. The project was finances by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). The project examined the problems associated with primary and secondary education and the implications for youth unemployment. Participatory approach entailing key informant interviews and focus group discussions was used in the study. The study was been completed and the report submitted to SPDC. Demographic and Baseline Survey of the Niger Delta States: The study is concerned with the demographic and baseline survey of the nine NDDC states i.e. Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, Cross River, Edo, Ondo and Rivers. The project was financed by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This is a full scale demographic and baseline survey of nine states including education, health and other social and infrastructural facilities. Participatory approach entailing key informant interviews and focus group discussions was used in the study. The project has been completed and the draft final report submitted to NDDC.

Evaluation of seventy-eight Shell Petroleum Development (SPDC) Infrastructure Development Project in Delta State, Nigeria

The survey focused on the evaluation and assessment of the impact of seventy-eight SPDC community development projects on the communities in which they were located. The survey was financed by SPDC. The evaluation survey focused on educational facilities and utilization of the facilities provided by SPDC. Participatory approach was also used in the study. The study has been completed and the report submitted to SPDC.
